How are product recommendations selected ?

When a product is rated "poor" or "bad", Yuka identifies, via an algorithm, similar products with a higher rating ("good" or "excellent").

The recommendations are selected in a totally neutral and objective way: no brand pays or influences Yuka in order to appear in the recommendations.

The algorithm for selecting healthier alternatives takes the following into account:

1) The product category (strawberry cookies, goat milk yogurt, lip balm, bar soap, etc.) in order to recommend a product as similar to the original product as possible.

2) Product availability, in order to recommend products that can be found easily.

3) The product rating in order to specifically recommend highly rated products, i.e. "good" or "excellent".
